Asymmetrical Digital Subscriber Line (ADSL) is a new form of modem technology which turns a ordinary phone line into a broadband-type connection allowing always available access to the internet at a flat monthly cost. The monthly rates from the ADSL line rental and the Internet Access charge are fixed amounts, thus allowing home users and businesses to accurately budget for their electronic communication costing, as well as save on the high costs of having a dialup related account.

Installation Criteria:

• Clients require an existing standard Telkom telephone line. If an existing telephone line is not present, a line will need to be installed prior to applying for ADSL. Pre Paid phone lines are not supported.
• ADSL Bundle packages have to be applied for in the same name as the owner of the existing Telkom phone line.
• Client exchange must support ADSL. This will be confirmed at time of application.
• The provision / availability of the ADSL service is dependant on the distance you are from your local exchange and Telkom line quality.
• Telephone call charges will be billed directly by Telkom. ADSL line rental and ADSL data will be billed by ALTONet.

Installation Charges

Self Install:
Where the self install option is chosen, there will be no installation fees charged. With the self install option you will need to acquire and install a ADSL splitter box at your premises. The ADSL splitter box is available from any Telkom retail store. This is a very easy and simple process.

Telkom Install:
Where client prefer to have the ADSL installed and set-up for them, a once off installation fee of R437.50 will be charged.

Bundle Packages come with a fixed monthly data limit. Once the limit has been reached, the account will be suspended until the end of the month or until additional data is purchased.
